AN/AVS-6

The AN/AVS-9, also known as the ANVIS (Aviator Night Vision Imaging System), is a binocular night vision goggle system primarily used by military aviators, particularly in the U.S. Air Force. It's a significant upgrade from earlier models like the AN/AVS-6, offering improved features like better helmet integration, image clarity, and battery life. The AN/AVS-9 allows for critical night time military and safety operations in various aircraft.

The AN/AVS-9 was designed to address some shortcomings of the earlier AN/AVS-6. The AN/AVS-9 rotated the objective lens assembly for focus, unlike the fore-and-aft translation of the AN/AVS-6. It utilizes Gen 3 gated Pinnacle tubes for superior performance in low light, features improved objective lens focus for clarity, has independent eye-span adjustment and a low-profile battery pack for better mobility.
