AN/PVS-24

AN/PVS-24

The AN/PVS-24 (often designated as the M2124) is a compact, clip-on night vision device (CNVD). Developed in the 2000s by L3 Warrior Systems for the U.S. military, it mounts directly in front of a daytime rifle scope. This lets operators shoot at night without having to remove their day scope or re-zero their rifle.

The PVS-24 was created in response to a solicitation by the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center (Crane Division) for the SOPMOD (Special Operations Peculiar Modification) kit. It was designed specifically for Special Operations forces to use on their standard issue M4 carbines. The goal was to build a lightweight, short-range night vision attachment that could withstand harsh combat environments. The technology was subsequently released for the commercial and law enforcement markets under the designation M2124 by manufacturers like U.S. Tactical Supply and EOTech.

The device is built around U.S.-manufactured Generation III (Gen III) image intensifier tubes, which amplify ambient moonlight and starlight. The PVS-24 was optimized for short-to-medium-range weapons, specifically the 14.5-inch barrel M4 and its standard 4x magnification scopes (like the Trijicon ACOG).
