AN/PVS-5

The AN/PVS-5 night vision goggle, a dual-tube device, has a history of being used by the U.S. military, particularly for aviation and ground support. It was the standard for U.S. Army aviation night vision from 1972 to 1990 and a primary goggle for ground troops until the AN/PVS-7 was adopted. The PVS-5 is based on the SU-50, an earlier first-generation goggle.
The PVS-5 was developed in 1971 and utilizes second-generation image-intensifier tubes. It has several variants, including AN/PVS-5, AN/PVS-5A, AN/PVS-5B, and AN/PVS-5C.
The PVS-5 was a key piece of equipment for the U.S. military, particularly for pilots and ground troops. It was used in the Vietnam War, Operation Eagle Claw, the Persian Gulf War, the War in Afghanistan and the Iraq War.
